Into the Light...

New York's prince of downtown darkness is turning toward the light. "I was looking for something optimistic," he said, "something pure." The Spring/Summer 2011 collection by Alexander Wang was a grand gesture and welcome indication of the season ahead. By transforming his signature style of black, grey and architecturally stiff angels, to a more fluid, layered and softer disposition, the collection creates an almost bird like quality that danced down the runway with lightness and ease. Still maintaining an ingrained "Wang'ness" quality with the addition of straps, suspenders and the odd fitted jacket, there is a beautiful dynamic between heavy and soft, masculine and feminine,  dark and light...
