Aussie Authentic...

Tina Kalivas, POLYRHYTHMS 2009... I haven't loved color and tribal this much in quite some time. Then again, it isn't often that tribal and color, as bold as the patterns below, can look so stunning and feminine while remaining true to form. Perfection...

Time after time...

The concept of time has always fascinated me. It's relevance in our world is indescribably crucial, yet its equally stated destruction of our world is sometimes even more damaging. People begin to rely on time as a verdict and dictation to everything we do, everywhere we go, every decision we make. The funny thing is, time will always exist, but what happens within each given moment of time will only happen once. We allow it to poison our minds and restrict our desires because of the constant hurry and unrealistic schedule that time has put us on. Yes, it is by far the most important concept in running a society from day to day, but how will a society continue to run and function if we no longer maintain it on emotion, experience and genuine truth but merely as a race against the inevitable "ticking time bomb" that we have become? I have never worn a watch, nor do I desire to, but if I were to live on time alone, this might be the way I would want to see it...

The Fashion of Architecture...

Sandra Backlund is not just a designer, she is an architect, an inventor, a pioneer and an authentic talent that is unlike anything the fashion industry is exposed to on a day to day basis. The most impressive part, how could anyone have ever imagined a career in three dimensional collage knitting might lead to such a realm of artistic expression. As Sandra modestly confesses, "My work is very personal to me. I improvise and allow myself to loose control and see what happens if I do not think to much about practical things."
